Chris Corral

Chris's passion for working with students can be traced back to high school where he was a camp counselor and artist facilitating arts experiences with young people. He grew up in a small town in West Texas called Friona where the arid hot and dry climate and landscape developed his imagination. In a place where the sky is GiGaNTIC he began creating art. In the summer leading up to his ninth grade year he moved to WNC. He became a summer camp counselor in high school and his passion for using creativity to help develop young minds had it’s origin.

In 2001 Chris had the opportunity to travel to Rome, Italy with a church group. As a chaperone to his young cousin, he spent two weeks in Italy traveling with the group, learning, mentoring, and thinking about how to proceed in life. This adventure solidified his desire to mentor, teach, and be involved in education and the arts. His experiences led him to teaching in arts-based after school programs as well as teaching as an enrichment teacher for grades K-8. He developed his TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) choice teaching style and curriculum.

Chris is a graduate of Western Carolina University, where he earned his Bachelors of Fine Art with a concentration in Painting and Sculpture. When he is not spending time with his wife and two kids Chris is involved with the arts. Currently he is involved in the Indigenous Walls Project. This is a mural project with an initiative to save and protect indigenous language. Furthermore he is working toward a community NFT and Blockchain initiative as well as creating NFT art.
