Erin Wical

2nd Grade Assistant Teacher

Erin spent her childhood immersed in the wonders of nature, exploring the lush, mysterious swamps in her backyard and the expansive, sun-soaked beaches of Florida. She later carried this love for the outdoors to the towering peaks and rugged trails of the Rocky Mountains, where she spent much of her adult life deepening her connection to the natural world. In the summer of 2023, she and her family made a new home in the enchanting Appalachian Mountains, drawn by their kaleidoscope of biodiversity and the ever-changing beauty of the seasons.

Her passion for education and her lifelong bond with nature inspired her to embark on the journey of earning a degree in education and to join the vibrant community at FernLeaf. Here, she is dedicated to sparking curiosity and fostering a profound sense of stewardship for the natural world in her students.

Outside of her role at the school, Erin finds joy in mountain biking through forested trails, embarking on breathtaking backpacking adventures, crafting vibrant works of art, and sharing unforgettable moments with her family and friends. These experiences infuse her teaching with creativity and a spirit of exploration, as she strives to weave academic growth with a deep appreciation for the wonders of the environment.
