Kate Mulligan
School Psychologist
Kate grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and began her education in liberal arts at the
University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In 1981, Kate moved to the southwest and began
a journey of experiential learning. Her experience as a foster parent sparked a passion
to improve outcomes for disadvantaged children and she returned to obtain a specialist
degree in school psychology from West Texas A & M University in Canyon, TX.
Kate’s background experiences are diverse, and include managing a horse stable,
volunteering as a wildlife monitor for the Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust on a 1,200
sanctuary in New Mexico, and building an off-grid homestead in Portal, AZ. Kate’s love
of travel and exploring different cultures has taken her around the world to Africa,
Australia, Mexico, Ireland, France, Scotland, Israel, and the Bahamas.
Recently, Kate moved to North Carolina to be closer to family and the Appalachian
Mountains. She enjoys gardening, photography, bird watching, hiking, fishing, checking
out new restaurants, and taking her great pyrenees, goldendoodle, and cat on walks.
Kate has two grown children and two grandchildren. She resides with her partner in
Brevard.
