Mandy Smitherman

Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Mandy's passion for teaching mathematics can be traced back to her grandfather who taught all grades of math in a small Texas community. Over the years she honed her skills by teaching math to her younger sisters and later earning her degree in mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. Hook ‘Em Horns!

She spent 12 years teaching everything from Algebra to Advanced Precalculus outside of Austin, Texas before meeting the love of her life Shean and falling in love with his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. Thank goodness for love or she would’ve never found her way to FernLeaf! When Mandy is not teaching or chauffeuring around her two children, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends!
