Vic Wiesel

Upper School Assistant Director & Experiential Ed Coordinator

Vic grew up in Washington DC, but spent his boyhood summers in Western North Carolina at Camp Mondamin. To this day he still holds the record for being the camper who came closest to crossing the entire length of camp while blind folded.

He graduated from Pitzer College with a degree in Media Studies specializing in experimental film and archaic technologies. He can develop 8mm film in a bathtub, much to the irritation of professors and roommates alike. After several years working in television in both New York and Los Angeles, Vic left the glamor and tiny apartments of city life to return to WNC to work with adolescents outdoors. After 10 years in outdoor education, he transitioned to working as a classroom teacher. This will be Vic’s 6th year working at FernLeaf.

When not at school, Vic is a photographer, no longer working in a bathtub but in his own darkroom. He also enjoys sailing, spending time outdoors, and cooking for his breathtakingly good looking wife, three kids and dogs-Ziggy Von Sparkle Pants and Kevin Bacon.
